How would you describe the Slovenian fashion scene?
I'd say in the bubble I live in, amazing :) There are quite some individuals in the capital with very exquisite style. But Slovenia mostly consists of small cities and villages, where the culture of dressing is at a very low level.
Why did you decide to focus on menswear?
I guess so I could focus more on details, not the silhouette. I like to play around classic shapes and exploring how to make them different in the flood of all garments.
Which is your favourite piece that you designed and why?
I have to say my best seller - front pleat trousers. Why? Because I have been making them for almost five years now and each time, with every different fabric, I am as excited about it as the first time. Plus, it makes me happy seeing them on every single individual, wearing them his/her own way.
Where do you find the inspiration for your work?
In researching things I'm interested in, also the life situation I'm in at a certain point.
Who is your favourite designer/brand and why?
It's a tough one; can't really decide - I fell in love with fashion design because of Raf Simons (when working for Jil Sander). I probably still see him as The God of fashion, the winner of colour palette, contemporary fabrics and smart details. From the younger generation, I'd say Craig Green. He's being true to his own asethetic, no matter what the rest do or what sells most. His strong silhuettes never dictate who is suppose to wear them. I think it's one of the most relevant brands in these times.
What can’t you live without?
My first thought was my bed.
Favourite travel destination and why?
Kerala, India. Easy-going, kind people, colour and textile vibrations at every corner, cultural differences, weather (not the monsoon period, of course).
What is your ideal holiday?
Kornat island, Croatia.
